The earlier README below records an earlier repository-oriented workflow. Its descriptions of synchronization and tooling are historical statements, not verification of the current deployment. The current research architecture is described in The Pyragogy Knowledge System.

¶ Pyragogy Handbook — AI Edition
A living handbook for human–AI co-learning.
Pyragogy Handbook — AI Edition is an evolving editorial project that explores what happens when AI is not treated as a tool on the side, but as a participant in the room: a cognitive presence that can support inquiry, provoke revision, surface tensions, and help stabilize new forms of shared understanding.
This repository is the canonical source of that handbook.
It is not a random collection of notes.
It is not a dump of prompts.
It is not the full backstage of the project.
It is the versioned, readable, and progressively stabilized core of an ongoing human–AI collaboration.
¶ Why this exists
Pyragogy begins from a simple but demanding intuition:
learning changes when AI enters the process not only as an instrument, but as a peer in the dynamics of thought.
That shift creates new possibilities, but also new risks.
It can accelerate reflection, but also produce noise.
It can help build understanding, but also simulate false clarity.
It can support co-learning, but only if the process is made explicit, disciplined, and open to revision.
This handbook exists to document that emerging space with enough structure to be useful, and enough openness to remain alive.
¶ What this repository is
This repository is the editorial backbone of the handbook.
It exists to:
- preserve the evolving structure of the handbook
- version pages over time
- make change visible
- support thoughtful collaboration
- keep public knowledge stable without pretending it is final

¶ How the handbook works
The handbook is built around a simple distinction:
¶ Backstage
The backstage is where ideas are explored, debated, drafted, challenged, and co-edited.
This is where rough material can exist:
- unfinished notes
- experiments
- tensions
- partial syntheses
- human–AI working drafts
¶ Frontstage
The frontstage is where selected knowledge is stabilized and published in readable form.
This repository serves that transition.
A page belongs here when it has reached a form that is coherent enough to be shared, discussed, and defended in public — even if it remains provisional.
In other words:
what appears here is not raw generation, but the stabilized form of an ongoing cognitive process.
¶ Editorial and collaborative workflow
The handbook does not move directly from idea to publication.
Its working flow is intentionally layered:
¶ 1. Forum discussion
Proposals, revisions, doubts, and critiques are first discussed on the Pyragogy forum:
This is where contributions begin to encounter other minds.
It is the first place where an idea is tested socially rather than merely stated.
¶ 2. Collaborative editing
Once a direction becomes worth developing, drafting and revision can continue collaboratively in HedgeDoc:

This stage is for live co-editing, shared rewriting, refinement, and negotiation of form.
¶ 3. Cognitive friction before stabilization
Before a page reaches stable publication, Pyragogy may introduce a dedicated phase of AI-mediated cognitive friction.
This can take the form of a brainstorm arena in which multiple AI agents examine the same page from different perspectives, generating tension, disagreement, contrast, and structural pressure before release.
The goal is not spectacle.
It is not artificial complexity.
It is to make weak thinking harder to stabilize.
This arena is imagined not as a hidden technical step, but as a possible public event format: a live editorial encounter, more dialogical and intellectually alive than the usual one-way presentation model.
¶ 4. Stable publication
Only after discussion, collaborative editing, and cognitive friction does a page become eligible for stabilization.
At that point it is:
- versioned in GitHub
- published in Wiki.js
- made part of the readable frontstage of the handbook
¶ Editorial philosophy
This handbook is not built as a closed doctrine.
It is built as a structured exploration.
That means:
- stability is editorial, not absolute
- revision is expected, not feared
- disagreement can be productive
- uncertainty is part of the method
- clarity matters more than volume
- participation matters more than performance
Pyragogy is not presented here as a finished system.
It is an exploration that has just begun: a shared journey, not a closed and fully defined framework.

The handbook relies on a simple ecosystem:
- Forum for first discussion and collective reflection
- HedgeDoc for collaborative drafting and editing
- Wiki.js for the public reading surface

- Markdown for portability and transparency
- Human + AI collaboration for drafting, review, synthesis, and continuity
This combination matters.
It means the handbook can stay:
- readable in public
- editable in practice
- discussable in community
- traceable over time
- open to participation

The current structure is organized as a handbook, not as a flat documentation dump.
At the core, it includes:

¶ How AI fits into this project
AI is not here to replace authorship.
It is here to support a demanding form of co-thinking.
Depending on the situation, AI may help:
- surface contradictions
- propose structures
- compare versions
- preserve continuity across iterations
- challenge weak formulations
- accelerate synthesis without skipping reflection
But AI does not define truth, legitimacy, or publication status on its own.
The final responsibility for stabilization remains editorial and human.
¶ How to participate
Participation is welcome.
You do not need to arrive with a finished theory.
You do not need to agree with everything.
You do need to care about clarity, rigor, and the difference between generating text and building understanding.
A healthy contribution path looks like this:
- open or join a discussion on the forum
- help sharpen the question, tension, or proposal
- move into collaborative drafting when the material is ready
- expose the page to deeper review and cognitive friction
- stabilize only what deserves publication
Useful contributions may include:
- improving definitions
- proposing better structures
- documenting cases and experiments
- identifying contradictions or weak points
- refining editorial language
- opening new questions worth pursuing
The best contributions do not merely add content.
They improve the quality of thought.

This handbook should be read as both:
